blower motor removal 1983 300sd

I know there are pictures somewhere on this site, but I can't find them. I'm not too fluid on this site. I just can't figure out the logic behind this organization of this site.

Use search feature

Look toward the upper right of the screen, click Search, type "blower motor removal" and press ENTER.

Should get you some info. Good Luck.

your chassis is called "w126" and if you add that to the search you may come up with a bit more specific threads. Of course you could also add "SD". I think your blower is below/next to the glove box- take off the passenger kick panel and it's right there if you use a flashlight you ought to see it- it's a squirrel cage blower in a black box.

Remove the lower kick panel below the glove box, on the center stack is a 90 degree plastic bolt, turn to disengage, the rest are metal screws. Work it out, look up, you'll see it.
How do you know you need a new motor? Mine "failed" only for the CCU to be found as the culprit, turns out I didn't need to pull the motor at all.

I don't. I have a parts car. Same year, same model: "83 300SD. Even better than that, I have a wife who let's me have a parts car.

I pulled the CCU already and am now working on the blower motor. Next is something called the monovalve???. I want to have a pro look at them, bench test them, whatever and then put them all back in the new(er) MB.

I'll try looking searching for some pix.

I don't think you can r and r a torn monovalve. If it is dirty, a cleaning may help but they are pretty cheap replacements $30-40 last time I checked.

The blower, just hook up 12V and ground and see how it spins. There are threads about oiling them and such.

The CCU is going to be near impossible to bench test for you or even a local mechanic without sending it out. The best way to test it is to put it in a car and see how it works.

^ I agree, to check the blower use a strong 12v power source, I used a battery and ran leads, nearly jumped away, so be careful.
