Transfering Diesel fuel

Quick question guys! I'm thinking of draining the diesel out of my parts car before rendering it unmovable to my other 300D. Is that Ok? or will it possibly introduce algae to the tank or any other concern? Thanks!

Start the engine on the parts car with a long piece of fuel line going from the return line on the parts car into the fuel tank of the other car. Sit down, have a beer and run it until it stalls and all your fuel will be transferred over.

Thanks for the tip Kerry! How about the fuel itself. Would it be safe to use or would I introduce algae?

I don't think so. You'd be running it through your filters.

It won't have ALGAE which require light. It might be bioboogers, which will be strained by the tank filter and pre (clear) filter.

If you're worried add biocide of choice to salvaged fuel.

I salvaged about 7 gallons from our parts car when we got it....the motor is dead, so I hand pumped (with the primer pump ) all SEVEN gallons out by hand into jugs. Took forever!!

I put the last half gallon or so into my oil recycling because it had some foam/water in it, but the rest of the fuel was good, and has been long since burned away in my car.

Hi
Were it me, I'd like to have a good look at the fuel before putting it into your other 300d. I have a $5 Harbor Freight hand pump that works pretty fast. I'd do it a gallon at a time in a clear container. Once you've put some trash in your tank its hard to get it out.
Just My opinion,
Joseph

As Kerry suggested by transfering fuel from the donner car via it's fuel return hose the fuel will be filtered as it passes thru the donner's filters.

Just to update you guys. I bought fuel hose from Advance Auto Parts (I think 5/16 was the size?) at $1.35 per foot. Connected it to the return line of the "donor" car, ran the car and let it drain into a bucket. Took about 15-20 minutes to completey drain out and stall the car. Then used a pump to get the fuel back into the "keeper" 300D.

Could have put the fuel hose directly in the gas tank of the "keeper" car but the hose was too short
