Starter solenoid replacement

The solenoid has quit on my 85 300CDT. I've removed the starter and bench tested the unit. The starter spins strong with direct voltage, but nothing through the solenoid. How is the solenoid removed from the starter? Can't find any bolts holding it on. I've seen pictures of the replacement solenoid and looks to be pressed on ??, but just can't quit figure out how to get it off. Remember replacing one years ago in high school, but part timers has set in. Do you take the motor off the housing and disassemble from the inside?

Thanks for the threads on how to remove the starter.

Look forward facing the front of the stater motor and you will see 3 philips head screws that's just in front of the solenoid, but chances are if you cant figure out how to remove it then you wont be good at puttin it back there is a cylinder in the solenoid once you remove the solenoid you can put the new one in if the cylinder does'nt jump off because its held with a spring which means if the cylinder jumps off you will have to dissemble the whole motor in order to get it back, so just give it to a mechanic or auto-electrician

This might help:

I have one to fool around with, too that I think has a bad solenoid. I rebrushed one on my VW- it's not rocket science.

Thanks pixelsblack and rs. I went back out and wiped the grease off the front and found the screws. I guess I was expecting to see round headed screws, not flat heads that are slightly recessed.
