1993 300D stumble

Car starts fine, even in this cold weather. Idles smooth. Accelerates well with no abnormalities. But once at road speed, accelerator "balanced", the engine stumbles as if it has a miss on a cylinder. If I decelerate or accelerate even the smallest amount, that is gone. This only happens between 55 and 60 mph.

Ideas? Searching threads doesn't give me any ideas.

Thanks!! This forum is a valuable thing to read.

I have a similar stumble on my '93 but it's at idle.

How long has it been since you changed your screw on fuel filter?

The filter was replaced in the spring, or about 7000 miles ago. If the filter were the problem, wouldn't that be evident upon acceleration because of insufficient fuel for engine demand?
