Exterior Body Seals by ÜRO Parts

I just bought a trunk seal made by ÜRO Parts, and it looked and felt rather high-quality. I did not install it yet, waiting on order of 3M Weatherstrip adhesive.

I am looking at door seals - I need driver's door seal, and they are expensive!! Has anyone bought door seals by ÜRO? I would be curious to know how different they are from OE. Those OE seals look a bit... complicated.

I certainly won't use off-brand stuff for critical application, or windscreen sealing, but this seems to be a harmless application... Any thoughts?

I have used some Üro mechanical parts and have not had problems. Üro may simply be an example of manufacturing moving to less expensive areas of the world. There has been some discussion of Üro on this forum as regards where their parts are made. The concensus is either eastern Europe (including perhaps as far east as Turkey) or the far east (including China). I do not believe I have seen any reports of failures leading (for example) to the destruction of an engine. Obviously, we do not know the source of the raw materials or the quality control that the manufacturing process uses. If the trunk seal works out, go ahead and try the door seal. Let us know how it works out.

I bought a URO trunk seal for my w126 and it has been good thus far. In terms of fitment there were some minor issues but overall it has sealed the trunk nicely. My doors also need weatherstripping and I may purchase replacements through URO.

I bought a front left door seal, identified as being Meyle/Uro, and was not too terribly happy with the fit, particularly in the lower inside corner. I've never installed an OEM piece though, so maybe they're all like that. The door doesn't close nearly as well anymore. Also, the seal around the door check is inferior to the original.

A lot of the Uro parts are made in China and are of subpar quality, I have had this happen a few times....so I now avoid them 100%....I don't want China junk on my car. German car, German (or fair labor country) parts.

Is Lemförder the OE manufacturer for these door seals, like what you'd get at the dealer?

Most likely....they make a large majority of OEM/Dealer stuff for MB. And every part from them I have seen or used was made in Germany.

I put in a Uro windshield seal this summer into my 240. It has been holding tight with no sealant thus far. We get a lot of rain here the Pacific Northwest so it's endured some major water.

Uro is a brand owned by APA Industries, Inc. (California). They have ISO 9000 certified manufacturing plants (contracted) in 10 countries (including China). They also have a 24 month replacement warranty. Pretty good IMO. Sometimes their prices are a lot less than MB, sometimes not. Luckily, I haven't had a quality issue with them yet.

I replaced both front door seals. the originals didn`t leak water, but had wind noise. and they were split on the seam, and cracked and crumbly along the top edge. what do you expect for 24 yrs.

I bought these seals on e-bay probanbly 3 yrs ago, and had them out in the barn in their packages. I also have the rear doors and 2 for the W126.
Don`t remember who I got them from, Maybe Big Babo. price seemed fair at the time. This was before I had heard of the MB Shop Forum, so it might be 5 yrs ago I got them .

I bought the plastic clips that hold the metal piece from Phill. think it takes 6 per door. don`t try to save the old one`s.

Putting them on wasn`t a real problem, pretty straight forward.
Drivers door fit seems ok, just have to shut the door a little harder.

The Passenger door, have to shut it a little harder also, but it leaks water along the top edge :(. I went through a car wash one day, and thought the window wasn`t all the way up . good thing I had a couple towels with me. the top edge doesn`t fit tight enough to the body.

Don`t laugh, but I used Shoe Goo for the lower bottom corners. MB used some kind of black sealant, and I figured if the Goo works on shoes, why not the door gasket? I do have to reglue the piece that goes around the check strap.

If I were to purchase door seals again, I would go with OEM, and give Phill a call.

I bought the Mercedes trunk seal today at the local dealer, and it is quite a bit different from the ÜRO trunk seal I bought online. The Mercedes seal (1) outlines a definite rectangular channel shape and (2) contains a fine lip to seal against the outer side wall of the channel. Also, (3) the upper lip of the Mercedes seal that rests against the trunk lid is bent outward, facilitating proper fit upon lid closure. All 3 of these features seem amiss on the ÜRO seal. I had difficulty closing the trunk with the ÜRO seal in place, probably because of missing feature #3. The material of the Mercedes seal is also a fair amount softer. and easier to fold or stretch.

I was charged ~ $86 at the dealer for the trunk seal.

Good info, thanks for this.

I have purchased a few Uro branded bits in the past... I attempt to avoid now for a "keeper" vehicle.

I recently purchased URO radiator hoses, they seem to be fine. No discernible difference in quality from the OEM it replaced.

Bought some for my V90 and the fitment was awful. The shape and such was fine but the ID was a tad too small making install a fun time.
