300CD window adjust

Hello,

I have been reading through the factory manual about adjusting the coupe windows.

My D/S window needs some help. While the upper weatherstrip needs replacement, the window still doesnt align right.

So, essentially, the glass hits the rubber right near the turn from "vertical" to horizontal. This causes overlap at that general area, forcing the glass out, so it sits on top of the rubber strip.

I think the window needs to be shifted slightly back, and tilted a bit so that the top edge of the window strikes first, yet the front edge of the window stays high enough to not have wind.

In other words, tilt the back side up, and shift back, but a bit higher overall. It seems that this is doable per the FSM. What about anyone experienced in messing with these. Any thoughts from the pictures or issues with my described plan?

Is there a best means to get the optimal fit? I do not really see any guidelines...

Thanks!

The attachment for the front door window is too large for here, not ure it would help, as it's for a hand crank version.

Thanks, that may help. I think the screws to the guide rail and plate have come loose on my coupe. Gawd, how I hate to pull the side panel.

Fixed mine!

Here's the adjusted window fitting perfect...

One issue I had, the "bracket" or guide in this picture that slides up and down the rail. The bottom part of it had come away from the guide. using a screwdriver and hammer I knocked it back into place. I have a feeling it was originally knocked out of place due to the misalignment of the window putting a weird angle of pressure on it. That said, with the window adjusted, it seems to be fine now. I also used white lithium and greases the crap out of everything in there.

Here is a short video of what I did. you can see how much I have to adjust the blots and which bolts I adjusted. basically I took all those bolts loose, then operated the window up and down to pick where I wanted the bolts tightened down again. a little trial and error but over all about a 30 minute job including removing the panel in the first place.

Hope this helps someone else.

Just be careful with the door pocket, it's easily damaged if you aren't sure of how it comes out.

nga, it sounds like you need a new regulator on the drivers side. Mine failed.

I see the issue on the drivers side. the "fan" shaped gear has worn teeth. So, at about 89% up it skips there, if you pull up on the window at the same time you can get it to catch the last set of teeth and close it...

So, it's either figure out how to fix that gear, or a new/used regulator. Can you get just the gear?

Most used regulators need help, I doubt you can just the gear.
