1990 300d 2.5 Turbo
Hello all! I was surfing around ebay last night and i came across what looks like a 1990 300D 2.5 Turbo in good condition (spent it's life in FL or so the auction says). I currently own a '85 300SD Cali version so all the things i have learned are for the 617 engine. I would like to learn what I should look for in the 90's diesels. Does this car have the 602 engine? if so, is this a good engine? Is it plagued with some of the problems i've red about with the 603?
I appreciate anyones insight as I consider adding another MBZ diesel to my garage. |

It will have the 602.962 engine. Robust and economical on fuel. You will find a lot of info on this site about it.

I have a '93 and I strongly prefer the engine and chassis it comes in to the W123 616/7.
There is no comparison. How many miles does it have on it?

There are 235k reported on this car.
from doing some more searching on the forums it seems that the om602 isn't a prone to cracking heads as the OM603. Is that correct? |

That is my understanding.
I have had mine very near the red in the summer when I had bad auxiliary fans and a bad fan clutch. It is still going strong.
