Does blower fan chirping mean it's toast?

The blower fan is chirping a bit on my car. Does that mean it's toast, or is there something just to lube? I was hoping it was the spindles it rides on, and not the bearings. Just chirps a bit for a while at first, then stops.

I saw some previous posts about people ripping their unit open, and soaking the bearings in brake fluid, etc. Seems easier and cheaper to just buy the $80 motor and be done.

It is enough work just to get at the blower motor in the W124 that you should at least consider replacing the motor rather than trying to clean, relube, or whatever, the existing motor. In addition to dry bushings, the motor may also have worn brushes so it would be worth the cost of a new motor.
