Fuel cells and craigslist...

I've been looking for a 240d or 300d on CL for awhile and got this reply when emailing about more information...

Quote:
Travis, I am helping a buddy sale the car, he is working out of town in Columbia, SC. I am very fimilar with the car it has no body rust and I am not sure about the undercarriage, I will ask him on that one. The car has 269K, it doesn't have any slack or flarring in the trans but you do occassionaly have to let your foot off the accerlerator to let it upshift. He was told it was the vacumm valves on the top of the valve cover. This is not a big issue at all it drives perfect and shifts just fine. He has gotten used to it and has not worried with it. Other than the A/C there are no known issues with the vehicle. I forgot to state my friend had an hydrogen fuel cell added to the car to give it better fuel economy. Let me know if you have anymore questions, he left the keys with me to be able to show the car.

Thanks,
Todd

I love how that's just and afterthought. But it really begs the questions... WTF?

Have Fun,
Travis

Well Norm, it's a known fact that hydrogen is lighter than air and a tank of hydrogen obviously will make the car weigh less and be more economical.

That topic (hydrogen fuel cells and generators) has been discussed ad infinitum, here on the forum. It's nearly as bad as the oil threads. More than likely, this is some small hydrogen generator that has little/no effect. Probably nothing to worry about as far as condition of the car and can be removed if you desire. Or you can give us a performance report as I've yet to see one.
