I came across this "analysis" that compares the lubricity of different diesel additives. Includes a few well known brands.
I've never seen this one before though it has been around since 2007.
I sort of figured Power Service would have faired better.

If this is true, and it may be, but it helps to verify, then the best of all worlds would be to add a couple gallons of biodiesel to the tank and march on, keeping the additive in a small bottle in the trunk when bioD was not available.

I wonder how straight 30W HD oil or trans fluid would fare/....

Not to sound....let's see, how should I say this - ? Not to sound like a broken record, or a know-it-all on fuel additives --- But here ya go: "I told you so"! Power Service is a great marketing company - that's there specialty and they do good at it. There product is far from the best - If you ever do a burn test, which I believe I have as a video - just need to find it ---- their product burns very "dirty", nor does it truely encapsulate water/moisture and actually "burn" it! That's right, I said burn water.......It can be done.

I've written before about a consulting job I did for NC DOT, related to diesel fuel issues they had --- It was a huge learning experience, and the results as to the industries best fuel additives was surprising.

I wrote up some info on it in the past, and included it in a thread...sadly a few wanted to debate if "algae" can "really" grow in diesel fuel - the key point to the information was side-tracked, and it became to frustrating to attempt a debate with friends that think they know it all, regardless of facts presented........Reminds me why I stopped practicing law!

Wasnt the SLBOCLE test more telling and useful than the HFRR test to determine actual wear?

I wouldnt want to use motor oil or non TCW3 2-stroke oil, since the ash will cause wear.
