Replace the speedo cable from under the dash?

Please tell me I can replace the speedo cable from under the dash on a 115!! I get worried when I think of the 36 year old electrical connections and the oil pressure gauge connection. The loud buzzing started this morning and it makes you want to jump out of the car!

LOL. That's what I was afraid of. Is it possible to get your hand behind the cluster without disconnecting the oil pressure gauge or electrical connections?

I'm sure you can get your hand up there. Whether you can disconnect and reconnect the cable is the real question. You're working in a very bad position with insufficient arm length.

You might consider pushing the cluster out..........slightly..........just to disconnect and reattach the cable. I don't believe the wires will suffer too badly in this process.

I don`t know about the 220, but on the 123, I disconnect the cable at the transmission and the clips first.

Then push the cluster our from behind, you will have more room between the cluster housing and the dash for your hand.
