Batteries from Roadside Assistance cost?

Anybody know what the current rate is for RA to bring me a battery for one of my diesels? Is it dealership dependent?

Last I heard it was around $140. I'm sure there will be geographic variables. Wonder if a sympathetic dealer would allow an MBCA member to get the usual 10-15% discount?

Well now!

You're all smart enough to know that when you are in trouble down by the side of the road and somebody is assisting you is no time to look for a cheap deal. You get a deal on those "stupid" problems by correcting them before you are dead on the hiway and a long ways from home.

You can probably call Tysinger Mercedes and ask them what their going price is. They're off of Magruder Blvd.

Their parts #: 757-865-1275

They don't have Sunday hours, unfortunately.

MB roadside assistance

costs nothing. The only charge is for the battery. This from personal experience. They will, of course, bring you an MB battery which is likely to be priced higher than a similar battery purchased elsewhere. Probably still an overall better deal than calling a wrecker service.

MBCA discount for the part is a definite possibility if you are a member.

I would get the jump start that roadside service does provide for free, then drive to the nearest Walmart, Autozone, etc., and buy a new battery.

I'm not stuck beside the road, just have a car with a weak battery and am looking for a good battery at a good price. Anyone know who makes the MB batteries?

My MB battery was brought to me by roadside assistance.....technically they had to bring it like 35 miles one way.....I paid about $142 for it 2.5 years ago. It says "Made in Spain" on it....and has been perfect ever since....even at 7F so far this year it cranked my car right up in seconds!

A good battery at a good price with an excellent warranty (the only reason to buy a specific battery) is the Autozone Duralast. 84 month warranty good at any Autozone in the country WITHOUT your receipt.

Why bother with anything else?

Try getting warranty service at Autozone at 2am.

Walmart has the best warranty policy available. They are open 24 hours a day, 364 days per year. And if the auto service department is closed, the customer service folks have no way of testing the battery; all they can do is issue a refund!!! (If you don't have a receipt, they use the date on the battery for warranty purposes.)

Those white MB batteries seem to chug on forever though! My friend is running one from 1995 in his E300D now and it still has a lot of balls left.

It lived in an S600 for the first 10 years, now its in the E300D. I told him when it dies to call roadside and have them bring him another.
