Need advice
Have a OM602 non turbo engine, blown headgasket. Did take the head in to a new to me machine shop, to have it checked out.
Did get a estimate on about $200. Got it back today, $590! Two problems, the precambers sticks out 8.9 – 9.0 mm instead of max 8.1mm according to WIS. And the headsurface have 3 – 7 mm scratches from the machining tool, you see it all over the head and they are deep enough to that I can feel them with my nail. Will the piston hit the precambers? Will the headgasket seal in the long run? ¢ Last edited by maidaa; 12-15-2009 at 09:23 PM. Reason: spelling error |

There are different sized Sealing Rings that go between the Prechambers and the Cylinder head so that you adjust the amount or protrusion on the Prechambers.
See if your year and Engine are in here: http://www.ps2cho.net/downloads/MB%20CD/W124/Main.html I am not sure what passes for a good machining job these days. This is a pic of a Gas Enigne Head I am working on. This is the way it came from the Chevy Factory.
