Is it possible to swap the ring and pinion from my 87 SDL non-limited slip to one from a 560 SEL? What year was the transition to a different model case?

No. They are a different sized case - 1.1L vs 1.3L.

The LSD diff is a direct swap, but it will be a taller 2.47 gear than the 2.88.

Ok, I snagged one from a 560 SEL today. When I got the car it I believe it had the speedo for this differential so I will pop that one back in.

Let us know how it affects speed, acceleration, etc.
