Name this part.

On a 1984 300D, between the glowplugs for cylinders 3 and 4, what's the little electrical connection that plugs into something that goes in the block?

Thats the temperature sensor for the gauge on the dash.

alfa 75 12-16-2009 04:48 PM

Damn it, is there an easy way to replace it? The wire is broken off the connector.

79Mercy 12-16-2009 04:50 PM

does your temp gauge work?

Just take the little black barrel thing part and try to reconnect the wire to the terminal.

we have just cleaned up an old term like that and soldered it right in place if gage worked - jz

I recently replaced mine, it just unscrews; you will lose about a quart of coolant.

That's okay, todays bionic super dooper coolants last 150k miles according to manufacturers anyways. So, just catch what spills out and throw it back in....:D

cant you put a new end on the wire?

Boinftw 01-02-2010 07:49 PM

Would this apply to an 84 300SD as well? Pretty similar motors - both 617 I think.

If so, what's the sensor at the thermostat housing for?

babyjames 01-02-2010 08:08 PM

ACC

Climate control. The other one in the head is for the glow plug relay.

Jay.
