Question Turbo rebuild questions

My 84 300D turbo is leaking oil back into the engine. I know where to get the seals (Thanks Rusty). However, i would like to know more e.g.:

Who builds these turbos originally? If I knew that I might be able to get other parts if needed beyond seals.

What is the boost these turbos are supposed to be putting out?

Where can one get a good/accurate testing tool to test the boost output?

Thanks,
Dave H...

besides the o rings and bushing you will need mounting gaskets for the intake side and exhaust side. They are a pill to get apart but very simple once apart. I had my favorite machinist do it and watched. I believe it took about an hour or so.

The Turbos are made by Garrett (Air Reseach) or KKK. I think there is info here:

Any Pressure Gauge that goes 0-15 pis ought to work. I have not read of any ready made setup you can buy just for testing.
Harbor Freight sells a Boos/Vacuum Gauge.

The exterior parts are sold by various internet sellers.

Back in about 2003, someone posted some really good data showing the lie expectancy vs. boost, IIRC. I think something like 10.6 is the right value. Much beyond that and life degrades quick.

My saab has a low inertia turbo with no lag, but only puts out 7psi. Hopefully that one lasts forever!

Was it just a Boost issue or was it that the Owners also increased the Fuel to go along with the increased Boost?
