Time to work on the w123 again
yup, it's the weekend and i'm going over to my dad's place where my car is parked to do some minor work on the car. going to start out by adding a zebrano shift knob--i give that 20-30minutes max, and then replace the right rear quarter panel and the right rear door mouldings--maybe 17 minutes. i've got extra red clips, too. my tools will be a 14 or 15mm wrench, and a socket wrench with an assortment of small sockets and one extension. i'm going to try to do everything with one hand.
guys, you think i can pull it off one-handed?

i dunno. just to challenge myself. see, i've already done everything that can be done to a mercedes. it's just not fun anymore. so i've got to make it harder to keep it interested. as my ex-girlfriend used to say, you gotta keep it spicy

If you want to do more work, if you have the space, buy another one cheap, fix it up and sell it. Or buy an old ponton or something and restore it.

several times. you know how women are, if you piss them off, you sleep on the couch. course at the time we were living in a studio, so the floor was my couch.
hey, you can't always get the goods. sometimes you've gotta resort to the one-handed technique

Sev,
If 1 handed isnt challenging enough, why not try working on it blindfolded? You can get to feel your way around!! Dont get your finger burned though!!

you know what, on my 190, i can do many things blindfolded, with one hand tied behind my back. on these cars, i'm going to have to go one-handed for now. i'll be sure to use a lot of lubrication on the parts that need it though

zebrano wood shift knob added:
i did it all one-handed. nah, who'm i kidding, two handed, with my dad's help. we cleaned up all the pins on the switches, removed the rubber boot and cleaned that up, the area under the bezel that holds the ashtray, the painted tranny tunnel, and edges of the center console. super easy shifter to install. i wish i'd bought a small new replacement bulb for the gear selector light while i was in there, but it's easy to remove it all again in the future. the light bulb lights up, but when installed and in the dark with the light switch turned on, it's so faint you can barely tell it's on, so it's almost irrelevant. hopefully an LED one will be much brighter
