Have all bolts out of oil pan & now need advice
Good Evening,
Boy, I sure am glad I bought that torpedo heater the other day. I drew a diagram of the oil pan on some card board and punched holes to put the bolts in to make sure they go back in the correct place. I'm getting ready to get a hoist to raise the engine. To get the pan off I need to take the oil pump off. The instructions show me what to do, but don't say what kind of the torque needs to be applied to put the bolts back on that hold the pump. O yes, while I was looking up at the engine giving it a good look I noticed that just under the exhaust manifold there was a slight bit of oil. Where could this be coming from and what could it lead to, and what would the oil pump bolts torque be? Merry Christmas, Hugh Sr 1984 190d (W201) 123,456 |

I don't have my 601 manual at hand but a quick check of the 602?
/603 FSM but: Oil pump to block bolts 25 Nm Bracket to blocl 25 Nm and the one bolt from the bracket to the oil pump pick up shows 10 Nm in one description and 25 Nm in another! I'd guess that if that one single bolt is dimensionally smaller then the lesser spec is applicable if the bolt is the same dimensionally as the other bolts then the greater spec woulod be applicable. |

Hugh,
could the oil you see under the exhaust manifold have come past the manifold from above, originally from the cam cover?
