I should probably follow up to this post even though I sold the car over a year ago.

My issue ended up being a loose clamp on the modulator sensor (metal rod sticking out the the transmission) being compounded with the fact that it was covered in ATF fluid and gunk. Cleaned it VERY well, installed a new bushing, and tightened the hell out of the clamp, and it shifted perfectly.
