Glow Plugs

I'm driving a 1995 E300D with 215,000 mi. The car starts reliably and runs smoothly. I've read thru the forum and have found many posts about glow plug indicators not coming on...

My problem is the opposite, the glow plug indicator comes on intermittently while underway, after the car has been fully warmed up and driven several miles. It stays on for about a minute then goes off.

I'd appreciate any advice you may have on this.

Best,

Peter

I had a problem with mine. Light came on and would not go off for a few min after start up. I went to this site for a step by step on testing the plugs. I discovered that the #1 plug was bad.

I pulled the intake and replaced that one plug. All is better now. I took pics of the removal process and I can post them if you need it. I was a bit intimidated of the idea of doing it but it was not half as bad as I thought it was. Took a few hours and I was done.

The above site was very helpful.

Thanks for this... Diesel 911 gave the link in a PM response too. Those intakes are a pain to deal with.
