Still Smoky

Last month a buddy came by and gave some direction. We installed new seals on the valves for the 82 300TD. She's been smoking a bit......hopefully, no longer. We noticed that the seals in place were 'orange' on the exhaust...wierd huh. Got them out and in, ok (Thanks Rolf)!

Then I did a valve adjustment. Then a compression test. It seems to me that I've got low compression: 320, 280, 310, 295, 250 psi.

Marvin's Mystery Oil in and dissolving (muck), while the injectors are out being rebuilt (rebuild/pop test evaluation).

WHAT DO YA THINK?

Now about a month later, I changed the valve seals, adjusted the valves, overhauled my injectors (Monarch), adjusted the valves, flushed the power steering, flushed the SLS; an she still smokes.

Compression after a 3 week soak in Mystery oil seems to have dropped a little (it was about 40 degrees outside and windy); but the car is more responsive......after I fix the exhaust and drive her about 50-60mi we'll see if things settle in a bit more.

What might I have missed.....

Did you change the fuel filters? did you change the oil in the car after you did the Mystery oil? And have you done a diesel purge? and cleaned the ALDA?

What fuel are you using? Has the car been run on WVO ? How many miles has it done?
If it has been on WVO then you may have the rings still stuck.
After you take it for a run, when you get home, leave it idling, take the oil cap off & see how much blow by you have . If smoke is coming out the breather like a steam train you may still have a ring problem. if it is a high mileage, this is to be expected.

Not that I am aware, no WVO. I am running B20 BioD, though. A bit of rocking of the cap......some mist when removed....car has 190k. I will continue to drive and update.

Thanks
