I got the new tumbler and 2 new keys in today from **********. It was a day late, so they refunded my UPS charge. It's shiny and new, but it's made in China! WTH!! ******** has always been good about OEM stuff. Even the non-OEM is usually German, Dutch or American, even. Oh well. Anyway, I'm ready to use the info previously given and get that sucker in there. I haven't taken the key out since I got it back in. Sometimes I have to turn the wheel one way or the other to get it to hit. Otherwise, it's just a dead turn of the key. Ok, then, if anybody has any new stories or ideas (warnings) about this job, let me know. It's gotten dark here, and I here we're supposed to get 4 or 5 inches of snow tonight, with a wind chill below 0. Never fails. This stuff never happens in perfect weather.

Finally got it out! What do I clean it with?
I just got around to replacing the old tumbler today, and I"ve got the thing out as per the instructions. Pretty easy, except each full time around when unscrewing the black cover off, I'd have to grab it with a pair of channel locks to get it past set pin, then it would spin freely till the next rotation. Easy enough. So I'm ready to put the new one back in and i'm wondering what would be the best way to get any gunk out of the receptacle for the new tumbler? Silicone spray, PB Blaster or electric cleaner spray? Or nothing? I'm going to at least swab the thing out. The tumbler had started to disintegrate in there. I'm on it now, so if anybody has any suggestions in the next 15 minutes, I'll be waiting to hear them. Lee 3:35 CT saturday

Done and done!
Finished the job in about 10 minutes. Just used cotton swabs to get the remaining junk and metal chips out left by the defunct tumbler. The tumbler was in two pieces, (body and it's faceplate, and the junk that was crumbling inside.) It's back in, turns on and off great, and the new keys that came with the tumbler slide right in and out. I think I'm still going to order a dealer switch and have it keyed to my old one so I don't have to mess with the doors. The trunk will have to be reset to match those. Right now i"ve got 3 different keys! Ignition, doors and trunk. Thanks for the support, and the initial help when I was really near panic. This forum is tops.
