Drier disconnected
I was poking around my engine bay today diagnosing my rough idle and I found that my drier has been disconnected on the positive lead.
I know from previous maintenance records that there is a crack in my air compressor, but why would someone have disconnected the drier? It also was replaced around 250,000 miles on the odometer. Should I reconnect it for kicks?

Please elaborate...The drier has two freon hose/tube connections and has a pressure switch for the compressor and an aux fan (freon temp) switch on it.
The pressure switch, when removed will vent the system, while the temp switch will not vent the system if removed.

Unplugging the pressure switch will prevent the compressor from engaging.

If there is one thing my phone is useful for it's taking pictures and posting them to facebook! There's a brown wire that is connected which I am assuming is the ground wire. All of the hoses are connected, except this wire.

That is the fan switch lead. Without the a/c, the fan isn't going to operate regardless of whether the switch is connected or not.

Thanks Tango! I remember many years ago in Maryland my stepfather almost had the 300D over heat with the AC on when we were stuck in rush hour traffic. I'm guessing this might be why
