84 SD dual muffler setup.

There is a distinct noise coming from the area of the two mufflers. They were replaced by the previous owner and I don't think they are MB. The shape is like a normal muffler, not rounded like the book shows the factory set. Am I right in thinking these aftermarket mufflers can't do the job?

I removed mine when I replaced the failed flex pipe. They aren't, AFAIC, necessary. I like the way the car sounds now too.

Does your exhaust sound bad? Too loud? Hanging down too low and hitting things?

The mufflers aren't hitting anything and are well clear of the ground. The car is quite outside but noisy in the body and noise coming from the rear floor above the mufflers. The rubbers are all good and there is clearance all round. Will originals run quieter?

If they did not put on diesel mufflers you will have problems. Gas car mufflers fill up with soot because of the internal baffling and design....then they get clogged.

Here are the numbers off the muffler set. Can anyone tell anything from them?
