Don,
I needed a 210 shipped from LA to Richmond VA. I tried the "broker" route at first and was very disappointed. No one came near the prices they claimed and it was taking weeks to arrange shipping. I finally hired DAS (Dependable Auto Shippers). Cost about $1100, but had online tracking of my car all the way and they were much faster. Shipped the car when promised and arrived when promised.

A piece of advice: you can save some bucks if you have the car you are shipping taken to your shippers terminal. If they don't have to send a rollback for it, it will save some $$. Likewise on the receiving end. If you pick the car up at the shippers terminal, instead of the "door to door" option you will save some more.

Just my $.02 from my experience.

The last non running car 300SDL from Winter Haven, FL to Memphis, TN was $450. It took me about a week to get the low bid.

And the driver did not know how to unload the car......

Seller had some shop guys help load it.
Buyer (me) had a shop guy help unload it.

Look around to see if one of your friends has a trailer you can borrow or rent. Shipping cars is damn expensive. I needed to ship a w126 about 40 miles and I borrowed my friends 16' bobcat trailer and his suburban. I guess it depends on how much your time is worth and how cheap you are.

I'm going to watch this thread very closely. I need to ship my car from Erie PA into Los Angeles. I have no patience to cross country drive my poor car that far.

$800 from LA to Nashville. Better price if the car will start and drive on & off the carrier. Shipping was a pain. It would be worth (a little) more for better service & a tracking number.

Uship gets my vote, used them to move a backhoe once, good service and cheap. In case you don't know, its a site that many movers keep an eye on. When you post what, when and where to, there is a chance that one is dead heading near by and will bid cheap for the job. That happened in my case, the guy had one more drop-off before heading home and home was near me, I accepted his bid for a win/win.
