1980 240D Clutch Problem-Fluid Leak Pictures
Here's a couple pictures of where the fluid is.....obviously the slave cylinder is leaking.
But what about the leaking from the front of the tranny? Could that be dripping down from the slave cylinder all the way from the back of the tranny? Please let me know what you think. Thanks. Jay

Yes, it could leak and run back and drop off a much different place.

Not sure I understand your question. Isn't the slave cylinder in front of the tranny? Pictures are too small to tell much. Leaks will typically migrate to the lowest spot available to drip from

Yeah change out the slave, if enough fluid leaks out and with enough pressure, it would leak down to the bottom of the bell housing where the transmission meets crank case. That's why that hole is there.

Don't you need to bleed all the brakes after you change out the slave?

No. The systems share a common reservoir but not a common pressure system.

The reservoirs are separate (sort of) for the brake and clutch so you shouldn't have to bleed the brakes.
You would have to bleed the clutch though and many people do that with the front brake.

There is a partition in the reservoir, so they are essentially separate, they just share the same filler cap. Bleeding the clutch can be a bit of a pain. Try through the brakes first, but that doesn't always work, so you may just have to do it the old fashioned way.
