Injector swap?

Hello, Can I swap five turbo diesel injectors into a non turbo engine? If I do this can anything be damaged? How big of a difference will it be?

The reason I ask is that I have tried to fix a leaking return line on the injector....in doing so I may have damaged the barb to the point that it will not seal to the new hose. I have tried several pieces of hose and fuel just keeps pouring out. I probably used a knife to cut the old dry factory hose off and have nicked the barb lengthwise allowing fuel to just run down the barb. I don't think anything short of a new injector will fix this leak and I don't want to have a fire.
I have a spare turbo motor in the garage and the injectors on that motor are looking pretty good right now if it is even a possible swap.

There must be a difference in the size of hole in the nozzle but I am not sure...appreciate advice. Thanks

I ran turbo diesel injectors in my non-turbo 617 because my other ones were being rebuilt.

Less power, and a bit harder to start because they retarded the timing.

The metal on the return line nipple is pretty soft. You can likely polish the gouge out.

perhaps you can put on a small hose clamp.

yes try very small wire ties for clamps with new hose you should be able to get them tight enough unless you really gouged it badly. Don

If your life depended on it and you do not car about any engine damage, sure. Can anything be damaged? YES.

Nozzles are the same, the pressures are different. 115 bar-normally aspirated, 135 bar (min.) turbo. resulting in a MUCH later (retarded) injection timing.

If you only have one that is bad, move that injector to the end and seal the hole shut.

I also am not sure of using abrasive's and polishing the barb..in case some gets into that hole.

Stick a round toothpick in the nipple while you are using your Dremel tool.

I wonder how hard it would be to take the guts out of the turbo injector and swap the piece that the barbs are on with the n/a injector?

Doing that will likely cause more problems than it solves.

You current problem is easily solved. Polish out the gouge and be happy.
