Arrow !! Happy 2010 Diesel Heads !!

Yes your diesel Mercedes is probably over two decades old and still kicking harder than most new cars in 2010!

What are your plans for your car in 2010?

I have some rust I need to get taken care of, front suspension work I'd like to get done, I'd love to find a leather steering wheel and replace that old shift knob! Oh yeah, and all that regular maintenance too!

Cheers!

Coda will be getting a coolent flush very soon.....like maybe today. Then there is the transmission fluid & filter to be done; followed by an oil & filter change.

my plan is to keep the car running long enough to find another mercedes.
i would prefer a w123 turbo but will settle for a 126 with a 617 in it.
The body must be in good shape with little or no cancer.

i had one last year that met this criteria but sold due to financial problems.i sure do miss it though. It is a bit harder to find another one than I thought. If the price of oil reches 08 levels that should help in my search,I know that it aided me in finding one that year for nearly half of what most people want for thier beloved mercedes on this board.Have my eye on a few vehicles and hopefully can find one before the tax return makes people or at it seems as if people increase the price they want for thier vehicles by a third on average.

If i could get a w124 with a 617 in it I would seriously consider that too.

I need tires for the white wagon, and this is the year that Smash and I will part company I imagine. The wife has just been incessant with her anti-Mercedes venom.
I know I don't need him but I sure have enjoyed him as my daily driver this last year +.
I hope to get China a tranny that doesn't grind or either try and tackle a synchronizer replacement. One day an NA 5 cylinder is in her future.
The Batmobile I just hope to drive and maintain.
And I hope to help Andy with the engine/tranny replacement in the Squash.....

Continuing what I started in December while the SD is in dry-dock...hopefully to finish soon.

Still left to do:
Oil return tube gaskets and check valve
Oil canister / oil pressure sender gaskets
New oil pan and gasket (pretty beat up)
Get the intake manifold dunked / new exhaust/intake gasket+studs+nuts
Left side entire engine shock
Oil cooler lines (half way through now)
Upgrade alternator to 80A (new mounting bracket and L-bolt (bent)
My first DIY valve adjustment Have wrenches - watch out!
Do a proper chain stretch measurement and replace if more than 3* (rent IP timing tool if chain replaced)
Install new Monark injectors
Replace LCA bushings (leaving this one to my Indy)
Find leak in AC and fix
Install new hood pad
Replace rear shocks
Fix Right front door window regulator
Cooling system flush
Replace rubber brake hoses
Brake fluid flush
Finally install that expensive rebuilt CC module I bought years ago
Maybe look at painting the bundts
Degrease the ever living piss out of the entire engine !
....and some more stuff, but what's the point. I think I got a little too ambitious

Well, first on the list for the 300D is
1. Get fender bender damage repaired (long story)
2. valve adjustment
3. replace tie rod and lower ball joint on passenger's side
4. Hit 400,000 miles (within the next 3-4 months)
5. Install keyless entry
And these things are under the category of "maybe"
1. Afterglow
2. Install a W124 outside temp gauge

I changed the oil today in my BIG diesel. Bought a 5 gallon bucket of Rotella ---- the Cummins takes 11-12 quarts per every oil change.

For the 85 300D

Replace the front tortion bar with the 85 TD bar I pulled
Replace the TypeIII AC system to a Type I manual AC system
Replace the 4-spd manual trans to a 5-spd out of a W201
http://www.superturbodiesel.com/std/how-adapt-w201-speed-om616-om617-applications-t-965.html

Replace the rear bushings
Install the out side temp display
Install the parellel flow condensor and get the AC working with R-12
Install the Sanded AC mount from the Euro 300D

The biggie, getting the 84 SD up and running.

I will take all, and any charitable donations to pull this off
