That is funny. Anyone see the picture circulating the net of a car with a gas pump hose hanging out the side? |
Based on some really helpful posts from the "old guard" (where did they all go by the way?) I bought a $10 light timer at Walmart and a heavy outdoor "all temp" ext cord. I set the timer to turn on the block heater 2 hours before I needed to start it. Then I swapped the glow plugs out, and ran rotella synthetic. The 190d started every frigid morning like nothing.
The heater didn't help when the 190 sat in the office parking lot for 10 hours though... I had to go out and run it for 10 minutes or so a couple times a day... |
Smash is staying plugged in all night tonight since I don't have a timer. Going to get down to around 15 degrees, which NEVER EVER happens here. Our deal with the devil is to put up with 110 in the summer so we can stay above 30 in the winter.....;)

I plugged mine in for a while yesterday morning, it was about 0F when I woke up but I didn't have to go anyplace for a couple of hours. It should have started at 0F, but there's no reason to beat it up.

Can you leave the heater on while the car is idling for a faster warm up?
