My biggest complaint.
the pictures are too far away, or just one or two w/o any detail.
no milage listed.
no model listed
do not list much of any detail about the car.

most listings on CL are too vauge.

I really don`t know anything about it, I walked out side, and there it was
in my driveway. must have fallen out of the sky in the night

Come on, it`s your car, you drive it, you must know something.

I have only bought one thing, and that was a brand new MB spring compressor for $75.
It was exactly as listed, and 2 hrs from here. I broke every law getting there .

I do agree, first come, first served.

Hey guys! I just wanted to let you all know I got this SCREAMING deal on an awesome 300TD with fraggin working AC!

Seriously though I understand how you feel. My friend/boss has been looking for a good w123 and every post is very very vague. I tell him to pick up the vin and we can get a rough idea of its history and options from the russian site.

He's still looking after so many months. I'm almost tempted to have him come to SoCal with me in a year and we can both pick up a rust free w123 and he can drive it back.

Poor guy, I was lucky my 85 feel from the sky into my driveway.

on another note.....

Okay, okay, okay.
This thread needs some balance to it.
So, here goes.....

Some of you might remember "The BOX" story. Let me find the thread. Well, this one post sums it up I'm still grinning from The BOX. 2 ads on Craigslist about 2 different boxes.....which I had the sellers combine into one after discarding the drum and the caliper. The Euro headlights are on Coda now. It's not often I run across a deal like this on Craigslist.

What do you (and he) want? I'm sure I can find you one, two, or more.

He is looking for a nice w123, with acceptable maintenance history, low to mid miles on the odometer, and an ok interior.

He tends to lurk on this forum so I wouldn't be surprised if I get a text message from him.

I'm not sure he is interested in traveling that far, but I keep telling him that to find a good w123 he needs to travel west or south. The rust belt just eats cars up.

Edit: When I was browsing craigslist I found this great example of a crappy ad.

Great car. Bought for teenage daughter she does not like.
I was laughing at this. Image the look on her face, "Too old! Do not want!"

When all is said and done. You'll end up catching a better deal. Your mind glorified the car because you didn't get it but it probably smoked, had problems and so on like many W123s. Good luck hunting!

The only people that hates CL is the Newspaper ad classify section. CL puts them out of business.

I personally love ads written by people who have little understanding of these cars and write their ads directed towards people who know less.

Often they tout the virtues of it being Veggie Oil and Bio-diesel ready.

Bah

It is fun to read but it seems all to often these very same people are the ones that think their 30 year old car that is rusted and has 300k miles on it and no maitenance is worth $5k because it can "go for over A MILLION MILES!".

Yes, many of those ads will read the same.

"Only 390k miles which is nothing for a Diesel"

Good cars go quick. I just missed out on a true low mile 190D, not craigslist though.

Was that the one on Chicago Craigslist? If so, what was the deal on the engine recall?

It all depends on maintenance.
