That thing in the 116 looks cheesy too, IMO.
The S-class models from back then may have had fridges installed by request with rear bucket seats instead of the standard bench seating, but not up at the front with the chauffeur.

Here's something interesting, a front armrest mounted fridge for the W140 and W124.

They do not! If they "think" they do they are incorrect!

MB did offer a factory option of a refrigerators, I have both seen one installed in a 126 chassis vehicle and researched the VIN data card of that vehicle which listed the option, it was code # 307 Cooling box in luggage compartment, and incidentally it also had a webasto heater, mileage computer, rear shades, SLS on all four wheels!

The unit in the picture is option code # 308 Cooling compartment in center rear backrest which in this case appears to have been installed into its present position. Who installed it there and when remains unknown but the pieces and parts are official MB factory option!

Thank you BillyBob. People are willing to say a lot of things in a manner which would make it look like they had some facts....
I was thinking about something like that between the front and back seat to make homemade ice cream... I found a valve which would work nicely...
Someone told me that would be ' over the top' .... LOL

That's what I suspected.

I saw code 308 but something didn't add-up due to location, so maybe a PO moved it from rear to center console as mentioned...
It's peculiar though since it does state " from 01.01.1990 " for code 308, but still good research there!
Could also be code 307 and relocated from the trunk to where we see it.
Anyway, cold brewskis for the occupants.

So who's gonna buy that 116...

No, the #307 unit is a rectangular box roughly 18" long, 12" wide and 15" high,

I pulled some parts from the vehicle I'd had access to a couple years ago so I knew they existed! Yeah, who knows how this unit got where it is now my point was that it was an MB factory product.

I stand corrected.
I dont think the cold box in the pic is factory fitted. It doesnt look like it has been moved from the luggage compartment. I am interested to know how it works. The aircon may not be cold enough to run it. Maybe it has its own system.

Ok, here's something of an update. Here's what I saw in a 1985 W126 at the get together yesterday. It's original. I'll have to get in contact with the owner to find out what the option code on this thing was.
