Does anyone know which wire on the relay gets 12 volts to it when the starter is energized to activate the 3 minute timer ? I was thinking about wiring in a push button or toggle switch to activate this on cold mornings. Trying to prevent bumping the starter and resetting the key.

I'm trying to set it up where I turn the key to glow if its warm out start it as soon as the light goes out. If its cold press the button/toggle and get the three minute glow.

I did a search and it seems as if my relay is working backwards. When the starter is bumped it starts the 3 min. glow. All the threads indicated that the starter signal should end the glow cycle ?

Anyone got any Ideas or am I just confused ??

The easy way would be to cut the purple wire and splice in a switch. If you open the circuit the glow plugs stay energized. If you complete the circuit, when you turn the key, the glow plugs go out.

There is a thread on how to use the temperature sensor and a relay to do this automatically. I did it and it works really well.

Thanks for the reply I think it finally sunk in . So what I have is the updated relay with the purple wire already cut. The upgrade was already installed when I bought the car so I had no idea what I was dealing with .
