Help Sunroof wont Close -Fuse keeps blowing

Hey guys , my 85 300D's sunroof has been working fine but has been a bit sluggish lately. It is cold here in Houston so I figured i would greese the track ect ect when it got warm. Well yesterday I opened it some and it would not close so I checked the fuse which was old and was blown. I put another fuse in and it worked for about 5 minutes then blew that one. I purchased some new red fuses 16 amp from the autostore and I can get it to move a few inches then the fuse blows again. What gives? Do I need to get a ceramic fuse or is this a bigger problem? It probably blew 5 fuses and is still open some as we speak. HELP ITS RAINING.

I can't help you if the fuse keeps blowing, however I can help you close it manually.

Go into your trunk and look on the left side towards the plastic covering. Pull that away and you should see a long piece of metal that you can turn to close the sun roof. I haven't had to do this in a while but the owner's manual explains in better detail how you can manually open and close the sun roof.

Page 77 in the owners manual shows you how to close the roof manually. You need to access the back of the motor in the trunk on the drivers side.

"Remove access plug in left side panel of trunk. Insert socket wrench from tool kit through opening in panel and place on the hex-drive on the electric motor. Turn socket wrench as desired to open or close roof."

Sedan: "Turn wrench counter clockwise to close roof"

Coupe: "Turn wrench clockwise"

Is the plastic on the fuse melting or is the metal strip breaking?

Any idea on why it keeps blowing the fuse? It was working fine just the other day?

switvh might be blowing due to a faulty or stuck switch. Mine used to stick and blow the fuse. Also you need to make sure you are using the right amp fuse, believe it is the big blue on you need for the sun roof.

My 300SD works very poorly when cold.

I have to reach up and pull with my hand to help the motor out.

I am sure that the tube is filled with a type of grease that gets too
thick when cold.

The cable will have to be removed and the tube to the trunk completely flushed (the way you flush AC lines).

I will suggest this may be your problem. Motor is overloading, causing fuse to blow.
