Question Next diesel wagon

The 87 124 was the last diesel wagon sold in the US for a long time, when was the next year/model that they sold diesel wagons here?

They didn't. Only sedans in the '90s, and then the ML and GL SUV's more recently. No more diesel wagons so far. (sadly)

You have to get a VW if you want a diesel wagon, newer than 87.

One way to get a newer Mercedes diesel wagon would be to buy a late-124 300TE and transplant a 602 or 603 engine into it. If Mercedes made a 320TE (210 chassis), you could install a 606 engine. Either of those would require compliance with your state's smog laws, which would probably be harder than the actual transplant.

Yea... The next ones would be 96-97 Passat TDI wagons. They are pretty rare. All the Passat TDI's in 96-97 came with a 5 speed stick (no auto). Good reliable cars. Easy to work on too. I had 2 of them years ago. Hard to find them in good condition. When you find them... They are usually completely ragged out 300,000 plus miles, etc....

Edit: I forgot to mention... The build quality of the interior of the VW is complete crap compared to the MB.

Audi

Isn't there an Audi A3 TDI that's a wagon. It's the VW diesel in it.

35k all loaded up.. but if I needed a new car tomorrow it's what I'd look at.

with 220k on my 300sd.. It may be a while. I'm determined to go till it's engine or trans.

The new issue of the MBCA The Star states that in 2013 MB will be bringing the A and B class here, and also the C-wagon in 4-cyl variants. Perhaps a diesel will accompany the new lineup.
