Drivers seat 1984 300SD

I have a friend with a 1984 300SD the drivers seat moves backward but will not move forward. You can hear the motor running. I have searched and found that a cable maybe the problem. Does anyone have the diagram of pictures of the cable repair?

TRY A AIR COMPRESSOR AND BLOW THE GUIDE RAILS WITH SOME HIGH PRESSURE TO CLEAN THEM OUT THEN SPRAY A BUNCH OF WD-40 TO LUBRICATE AND IT MAY MOVE SMOOTHLY. I DID IT ONCE AND IT WORKED.

If it is moving in one direction then it is not likely the cable. Something is binding.

Check the mounting for the seat belt receiver. This has to be securely attached in order to slide along the rail next to the seat. If it is loose it will tilt to one side and then bind.

Next do as GhostCaddy mentioned - just clean and lube everything.

Last of all you may have a bolt loose. This is unlikely unless someone has worked on the seat in the past as the originals are secured with Loctite. You will probably have to remove the assembly to fix this one.

To remove you'll need to remove the four bolts on the floor, either remove the seat belt receiver rail or detach it from the base, and then unplug the wiring. The main wire bundle will usually require a flat head screwdriver to pry it apart.
