Hole in bolt - main fuel filter
Good Morning,
The bolt that holds the main fuel filter has a hole through it close to the bottom. What is that for, and should the holes be pointing in any certain direction when tightening the fuel filter? Thanks. Hugh Sr 1984 190d (W201) |

The holes are supposed to be there, and there is no correct orientation. Just make sure they are clean and clear. Fluid travels through the filter either through the center hole and out the smaller holes near the rim or the other way around. So the hole allow flow through the bolt itself.

That is a banjo bolt. Doesn't matter how the holes are lined up. it's a hollow bolt with a circled affair around it allowing the fuel to flow from any direction.
