Radiator replacement 300sd

Gentlemen,

I found a Behr radiator for my 1985 300SD at the Nevada Pic-A-Part. It is a beauty. Must have been a recent replacement. My current radiator has a broken outlet and the radiator's composition resists fully bonding with any epoxy. The half-assed glued configuration, however, has never been over 100C even with the air on in the blistering Las Vegas heat. But, when I saw this perfect radiator I decided it was time for a change.

Now, I want this relatively easy job to be relatively easy. What preparations do I make regarding transmission fluid and cleaning the cooling core? There are no audible sounds from particulate matter shaking around in the core and not one ding in the cooling fins. Will air get trapped in the transmission reservoir. How much trans fluid should I anticipate replacing during the switch out? Any suggestions on what to use to plug the transmission lines while I take the old one out?

I know it is an easy job, I just want to keep it that way.

Should loose less than a quart, and don't worry about plugging the lines, one comes from the pump and the other returns above fluid level so you won't drain the transmission. The flex lines may break at the crimp though, both of mine did this so it might be a good idea to just get a new set of flex lines and change them while it's apart.
As far as cleaning, just rinse out the radiator part with water- Stick a garden hose in one end, let the water flow out the other, and then reverse. Don't get water in the transmission cooler, but if you do just set it so the cooler is vertical, and spray brake clean in the upper port, make sure you have a catch pan under the lower port. Wait at least an hour after spraying the brake clean to hook up the transmission lines. The cooler will refill itself, just check the transmission fluid level and top up as needed.
