Shall I change the 84 190D manual tranny fluid?
The car drives well and shift OK. It pops out of 3rd on odd occasions but I attribute it to myself for not pushing the gear fully in. Could it be caused by old fluid or other factors?
I am not sure how long the fluid has been in there but shall I change it? My other concern is that the drain plug is easy to get to but the fill plug is recessed and it difficult to undo. That is why I hesitate to change it out as I need to make sure I can remove the fill plug first. Any comment is appreciated.

When in doubt change the oil!!
A small funnel with a long piece of plastic hose on it makes refilling easy. Just feed the hose up past the bell housing so you can fill from under the hood. A good socket should undo the filler plug.
