Why did tech plug vacuum line?
Car I had lent my daughter had extremely poor acceleration on the lower had (noticed this when I drove the car for first time in months over Thanksgiving). Tech in VA diagnosed it as needing pressure converters/transducers for EGR and fuel mix replaced. I decided to hold off for the time being.
Got the car back, and this is what I noticed: to the left of the air filter there are two vacuum lines that merge into one. That one line is disconnected from the adjacent vacuum pod (I'm assuming that's one of the transducers that needs to be replaced...but I'm not certain) and there is a bolt (brand new) plugging up that vacuum line. And there's a short length of hose coming from that pod that's not connected to anything. And the acceleration seems markedly improved (though not as good as it should be). So I'm just curious: what exactly did the tech do and why? Why am I noticing improved acceleration? Is there any downside to having these lines disconnected? Whatever the reason, seems like a great stop gap measure. Thanks. PS When I can get ahold of the tech, I'll ask him....but figured you guys are easier to get ahold of on a Saturday morning!

The 92 300D.
I thought if you disconnected the EGR the computer senses that and you get no boost whatsoever. I'm trying to figure out why he did what he did....in other words, why not just leave it alone? What does disconnecting and plugging that vacuum line accomplish?

"WasteGate-Otomy"
This is the solution to you problem(S):
Wastegate actuator swap for OM602.962? Free yourself from the enslavery to the silly EDS (Computer) AND Recycle ALL that "Rats Nest" of Ridiculously expensive Electro-Vacuum Transducers on the riight hand side of your engine compartment. ['Just ONE of those Transducers is about $130.00...AND for less than $80.00 you will have the ability to "Jerk them All Out" !] Thanks again to Dave for this Improvement!

Yes, I've read that thread. Well beyond my automotive competence, I'm sure. Any chance a good indie would do it? Or would fear of the EPA's wrath be a deterrent?
Also, would a car so modified pass an emission inspection?

I would think any good tech could do it if you gave him the link to the info.I cannot speak to emission check because i have no idea what they actually check in your state.I can assure you the car will perform better. Don
