Removing CCU from 300SDL...

I've got the ash tray out, the radio's out the two screws underneath are out... I can get my hand behind the CCU and start pushing it out from behind, trouble is the top section of the whole front face is well under the top trim and I see no way of getting top top loose... the bottom wants to come out but the top is still firmly in place - the front wood plate has started to come off of the plastic casing, so I stopped the brute force attack...

Hoping someone can give me a clue on what the heck I"m doing...

Thanks,
James

P.S.
I need to take it off to re-condition the wood (re-stain and re-lacquer).

Thumbs up

Two screws above the ash tray, should be phillips. Flip your head around and you will see them. Then it hooks into the top part of the console.

I think the CCU just screws onto the wood on the Gen II interiors, the Gen I are retained via a few small bolts.

The entire wood panel must slide downward by about 3/16" and it'll be free.

Naturally, you've got the radio out...........???
