1987 300dt

I have a problem, my 1987 300 dt was using oil and smoking, so I replace the leaking turbo, and now it still wouldn't run right so after more looking there is oil in the raidiator and the cylinders have #1 has 500 psi and the rest have 380 ish. Does anyone know the desired compression numbers and recommendations. I bought the car last year and it now has 150,000 miles on it so I would really like to put more miles on it.

Sounds like you have a blown head gasgett. That's how oil got into the coolant system.

Most likely you have the original head which is marked with a #14.

They are known bad castings and when the head gasget blows the head cannot be reused. Leading to an expensive repair.

I am no expert so please get more opinions and do some research in the forums.

Thank you, that is what I was thinking but just leary to think it out loud. The car is at the mechanics right now and I am going to have to look for the dreaded #14 I guess. I greatly appreaciate the help. Thanks again.

Same boat.

Pulled the head and didn't find any cracks. You might get lucky and just need the gasket. Hopefully that'll be the case for me too. Should have it back on the road by the end of the week (if the planets are perfectly aligned!).

Bloody chain guide pins!! Not to mention the H.F. pick that broke on me. Still don't have any idea where tip of that thing went. Not in the #2 prebucket, that's for sure.

Jay.
