Next time, ask if they have a "used" battery. Once the batteries are (IIRC) 1 year old, they sell them as used for about $32.

I kept all of the receipts and paperwork for my parts purchased.

For the batteries I have it in a folder. I figure when it is time to replace it I'll pull out the paperwork and take advantage of the warranty.

I don't remember the type of battery right now and I keep all of the receipts in the car.

If the battery sucks then show them the receipts and return/replace it when necessary. No need to worry about whether or not it's going to last long.

Thumbs up

I use AutoZone batteries mostly as I drive/own too many vehicles, so purchasing all from one place has its merits.

Recently I killed the one in my Z71 truck as I went out of town for an extended time and forgot to disconnect it. It was three years old and still cranking great until my mishap.

The one in my 750iL is an OE BMW battery and has been in there since about 2005.

Others are three and four years old that work without one issue. I do not really believe that chart where the life expectancy is three years max in the southern states. Well in fact it is BS as I have long exceeded those ratings.

Your analysis of the chart is flawed. "Average" and "max" are not synonymous.

That's a lot like saying "the average temperature in Denver is 52 degrees, therefore it never snows there."

I do think we're going to have to do a poll...........because I don't believe the posted chart either.

One thing is for certain: you can't trust a poll, either. I wish I had a nickel for every time I was told "I just replaced my xxxxx a few months ago." Then, after a little investigation, a "few months" actually turns out to be five years. Just the other day I told a neighbor he needed new spark plugs. He responded "I just replaced them!!!" "Just" turned out to be the year 2000.

Probably right. You observed with extreme displeasure what occurred on the last poll.

But, it's better than nothing. I did preface the poll with clear instructions as to who can vote to avoid the exact scenario that you describe.

Well I have no reason to fabricate my answers.
