Complete Auto Trans Rebuild Kits?

I've been looking around and haven't found a complete rebuild kit for my original transmission. I'd like to refresh and renew the one that I have as a backup.

I've seen seal kits and components, but does someone manufacture a complete kit?

Good question. You may have to piece mill it.

A Freudian spelling slip....
you really might need to MILL some things... in addition to ' piece meal ' action.

I suggest you find the Factory Shop manual first for what you are thinking about doing... and study the special tools called for in that.... and then consider some other method for getting your car trans operating again...

tr1cky,
I think fastlane may have a trans book publishes by ATSG. Its very good. The place that has the spring kits for improving changes also has banner kits. Maybe phil at fastlane has them as well. I think the fastlane people would be my first point of call, just a click at the top of the screen. You are lucky, they only ship within the USA, some of us miss out on them.

AWESOME! I've been looking for a kit for the longest time too, I have a dead 722.3 that I want to rebuild as a spare. Awesome

Here you go, the whole kit, $225

They rebuilt the trans for my SDL. I'd like to try it myself next time.

$233 for the deluxe kit is more than it should cost. If you have the time (since this is a backup) you may just want to take it apart and see what you need. You may well find out that you don't need new clutches.

The seal kit is commonly available for less than $100. The clutches are pay-as-you go. I was able to buy a seal kit for my 722.315 for $50 on ebay and I got all the clutches new for $35 also on ebay.

Save the money and stock up on beer. This is one job that takes a lot of it.

Well with a 100k or more trans, it would be silly not to replace the three clutch packs.

Yeah when i get around to mine it's going to be as brand new as possible.

If you know for certain that the transmission has mileage on it, change the clutches in the clutch packs. While you are at it , replace the o-rings that hold the flanges to the clutch pack drums. I don't think many kits have them included, though
