I have one of the white/blue wagons that might well have been a service vehicle.

It has been a complete labor of love but the vehicle runs and drives great now. Major shout out to vstech without whom this would have never happened.

Just a short list of the things I have done to it:
- new a/c compressor
- upgraded alternator and wiring from 90s 124 gasser
- radiator and condenser (PO had rear ended someone before I got it)
- OM606 plastic fan and clutch
- vacuum plumbing cleanup and replaced vacuum hoses under hood
- EGR delete, waiting on roll guy's plate to arrive then I need to clean out the intake manifold
- greazzer rebuilt injectors
- new hard line clips and pads
- new plastic fuel lines
- new oil pressure sensor
- rebuilt fuel heater valve
- replaced wiper and climate blower from the same 90s 124 gasser donor
- rebuilt front suspension - new ball joints and tie rods
- new pads and rotors on front brakes
- replaced dashboard with a crack free blue one from an 89 300TE
- replaced steering wheel
- upgraded OAT display to 5-pin type, hooked in VSS reference, installed sensor in front bumper
- Replaced drivers upper seat back pad
- reversed PO's hacked up stereo install, installed refurbished Becker 780 with aux input
- fixed cruise control
- replaced instrument needles with un-faded orange ones from donor cluster instruments
- replaced speedometer - when I got the car it had a gas speedo with broken odometer. I have no clue how many original miles, I suspect somewhere in the high 200s. SC does not care about odometer readings on cars >10 years old so I had no problems registering it.
- installed keyless entry system
- replaced differential
- rebuilt rear axles
- rebuilt rear suspension, links, bushings, subframe mounts, the whole works
- rebuilt parking brake
- replaced 3rd brake light with pristine unit from eBay
- replaced rear tail lights with eBay finds
- fixed rear defroster wiring that broke at hinge point
- replaced door lock actuator in passenger door

Things I need to do yet:
- track down small leaks up front so I stop leaving spots in the garage
- small dents on sides need attention, may try paintless dent removal
- paint needs a serious buffing/clay bar/help - loads of oxidation especially on the roof
- repair key lock in tail gate, it is jammed, button works to open hatch but you cannot insert the key

My kids drive this car so everything has to be in good working order. I find it to be the go to car when we have to haul supplies from the home center, it has more room inside than the ML with the seats down.

It starts right up every time, gets mid-20s MPG and is definitely the most unusual car at the high school parking lot.

Wow, I consider myself lucky! I got through most of this new to me wagon yesterday. Nothing on your scale though. I fit the new tires and took her for a drive and she is rather quick with the turbo. Brakes are phenomenal, much better than my old Volvo. It id take some time to flush the old fluid out to nice clear new, my daughter said her leg was getting tired of pumping and holding.

I have zero heat/interior fan to look after and a window short on the passenger side, fuel gauge isn't working and then the non working tach to figure out.
I removed the fuse box and cleaned it up, mouse turds, mouse turds every where. The corrosion was light but the droppings were causing issue's.
I swapped out all of the filters and went with synthetic oil as there are no leaks or seeps on the engine.

My suspension is all tight, nothing loose, missing, cracked or broken.

Off to study door panel removal, another full day and she should be road trip ready.

agreed... but this is MUCH easier, and prevents damage of the master cylinder from excessive travel wear.

also, you can make your own for about $25 from any hardware store pump sprayer...

Last year I bought an 87TDT from a fellow member and recently acquired a very rare wagon, Its a 1991 300Td 5spd Manual. This car is awsome it is an original sportline model with a saddle brown leather recaro interior. It has the om603 but without the Turbo. In comparison it is much slower then the turbo version. In canada I am able to see the 124 wagon from time to time.

I am also a younger guy(27) driving and most of my friends cant see the beauty in these old wagons. But every time i get into it it puts a smile on my face ))
