Euro 5-speed 240D

1984. 150K miles. Rotted pretty bad.

I can probably get the car for $800. Is this 5-speed set up and engine worth anything to anyone?

If its truly a 5-speed set up, yes. I can't tell you how many 240 "5-speed" ads to which I've responded only to find out the seller was erroneously counting reverse as a gear!

Yes, it's a true, grey-market, short bumper Euro car with a real 5-speed. Well, a 6-speed if you count reverse!

Grab it. If you are going to resell, keep everything in it's "rotten shell" for easier transport and integrity of all the bits and pieces.

I'll get in line as very interested too. I'll take any 5-speed/manual conversion specific parts that are left over. Please let me know if those before me in responding don't come through.

Thanks,
Ken

I don't need so I'll offer advice. Hold out and sell the engine, clutch, and transmission as a single unit! I'd ask for at least the $800 for the set. Anything else is clear profit.

Pff. I'd pay that for the tranny, shift linkages and pedal box. He can sell the engine and flywheel and clutch to someone else as far as I'm concerned.

Voltage regulator.....just saying

Is anything else on the car worth salvaging? (Interior maybe....is it cloth by chance?)

I believe the blower motor is different, regardless, its worth saving anyway.

... I think I will be putting my 5 speed car up for sale soon... immaculate vehicle, tiny rust hole on drivers side just below the rear window, so I keep the car covered. red cloth interior broken camshaft... so the motor is most likely junk.
I also have a full set of blue cloth interior...
I'm just saying...
