I already have timers from the tomato seedlings that we start each spring, so I will just commandeer one of those.

Ya, valves is going to be next.

I can't... Until I get the hood star and the door moulding installed, it just looks horrifying, and this is a family site, there may be children looking at the pics...

I do have this to report, though. Last night I decided to look in the trunk just to see what was there. I found two new oil filters (mann), an air filter, and... (drum roll, please) a replacement hood pad with mercedes part numbers on it, i.e. the dealer kind.

I guess the p.o. cared about the car after all...

Put in replacement spark plugs and soldered on new terminals on the wires because the old ones broke for two of them when taking old plugs off.

Ole 240D started right up (24F outside) without block heater!

It's amazing how because of who owned the dealership at the time, certain cars from certain years are scarce in a particular area...

MBs were considered exotics at one time by many Americans - and over their heads to understand them. Morton Motors sold Studebakers too at the time. Another specialty automobile of the day. The store was on the one-way westbound street (don't remember it's name) three blocks or so west of I-480, on the same side of the street as the original Old Chicago restaurant.

Jim Earp sold the brand back to MB when they were on a nationwide edict to build new, multi-million dollar stores. Earp MB shop/showroom was behind the Jeep/Dodge/Chrysler store on L Street. You can still swing a dead cat around by it's tail in Omaha, and hit three Jeeps - there's so many of them there. Baxter is the big Jeep seller in Omaha these days.

You have a good find it sounds like.
