update on the cars function
well today i got to changin the fuel filter, and boy was it DIRTY. couldnt even use the diesel in the old fuel filter. with the new filter on i actually have acceleration again. i also put some ATF in just for good measure and the transmission now shifts way better then before. still needs a service though. my shifter bushing has become a bit of a problem though, since i can no longer start the car in park. that will get fixed monday. exciting news though. HEADLIGHTS WORK! turns out i'm a bumbling idiot and had my turn signal switch in the high-beam mode.
even better news. after about 100k miles (according to the previous owner) my Odometer began to work again amazing how fast a car can go from a nightmare to a pleasure. everyone who has been in the car today since the the fix says that they love it and are amazed at how quiet/fuel efficient/ spacious/ and luxurious it is. they think the seats feel great too |

X2 Check this forum for vacuum/shifting issues, also peterschmid.com for additional info and diagrams. Eliminate all easy fixes before having some tranny shop, (who most likely know nothing about the proper operation of your particular transmission) perform a "service"....

Congrats on your new CD. once you get all the issues worked out, it should
be a sweet little car. I wouldn`t really advise to use the fuel from the old filter to fill your new filter. a good way to pour in the old contaminates and defeat the original purpose of changing the filter in the first place. Charlie

got work done today.
had my valve cover gasket replaced, put in a brand new shifter bushing, and had the transmission serviced. no longer have a major oil leak and the car is running pretty strong. my steering is less then desirable though, (more so then before.) it's needed front end work from the start, but it's starting to hit that "get it done really soon" area. bout to fix my turn signal right now since the wire came off of the plug connecting to the bulb housing. been such a long day though. almost fell asleep at the wheel on my way home and got pulled over. got lucky cause he left me off with not even a warning, but i have learned the value of sleep.

well my brakes went out about 2 days ago, so today me and my friend torey replaced my master cylinder and things are going smooth. also tensioned my alternator belt cause i was gettin a nasty squeal at night.
my right passenger a/c has a chirping sound now. gotten a few comical bird jokes out of it the car is finally nearing a resting period where im not stressed about needing some kinda repair done. it's nice. like the calm of the ocean. |

I guess I missed this thread.
Congrats on the purchase, Torey had been telling me how you were looking to get a MB. Can't wait to see it at the GTG.
