Non-turbo 617 Camshaft vs. Turbo 617 Cam
The cam on my 300D is slightly worn, nothing really major just a little worn.
There's a 1983 300SD in my JY with a like new camshaft. So heres the question, is the valve timing on the turbo diesels the same as the non-turbo's? Is it so different that I would see a decline in HP, or might I see a gain in HP? Has anyone done this before? Yes I know I will need to use the rocker arms from the turbo diesel if I use the camshaft. Thanks |
As I recall, the lift and duration are different.

Very different. Youll have less power and mpg with the turbo cam because there is no valve overlap to scavenge the cylinders.

I thought there might be a difference, but I was hoping it would improve performance, haha.
Thanks for the input. |

my daughter is heading for lakeland soon, and I have 3 useless NA cams if you want one.

How much for 1 useless NA cam? Thanks
Thanks again everyone for your input, im going to use a NA cam. |
Be sure to check on the material used for the cams and the followers.. they need to match... it is somewhere in the FSM...

I also need some more rocker arms, my originals are pretty bad.
|
would you want the whole head?
