Engine timing... what u runing?

Hey guys! I was just wondering, after the repairs i made, i had to adjust the timing... Its currently set on 14(?) degrees. I've Talked with my mechanic and he told me to go 19 degrees to get more power... what you guys think?

Maybe 15 or 16 degrees. Any car with the potential of a balancer problem in their history should have limited advance over factory suggestion.

I was under the impression you year of car was fairly quick anyways. Also you do not want to add any component to the equation that may raise operating temperature in the head on this model. Even a little may be bad.

Adjust by ear, advance it to the point of nailing and power starts to decline, then back off a bit so it's not nailing anymore. Max power.

There is a specific method for timing a 60x motor involving the lining up of the IP governor body with the hole for the timing plug on the IP.it is set at 15 degrees AFTER TDC. I provided the relevant page from the WSM on another thread recently.
