babymog is right. banjo is slang for me at this point for meaning anything to do with restricting vacuum on the the alda Nice improvement on the 602 and 603 -- its easier to check and clean those vacuum lines. Its all right there on the right side of engine. I'm gonna try to clean mine tomorrow.

We won!

The deal is done. Thanks for your support. You all are awesome! You all were like the crowd outside the legislature rallying for what we believe in while my family is inside deliberating. Your testimony was nice to have and we won!

Happy to say I drove the one home friday. I snapped some pics with my iphone while i was there. Attached are pics of the drivable one that has the fading hood and roof. And while i was driving i snapped a pic of the interior center console. Nice dash too on that one. I'm definitely selling this one.

The 1993 300D 2.5T

Turns out the other one is a 93. It has good paint and the airbag on passenger side and nice armrest that opens. Cool. since there isn't any glove box. Can you replace that airbag with a glove box? My small kids don't need airbags yet. I hope i can get this one going for myself.

Attached are some pics including one of the free mason license and the engine with its broken pcv valve.

I really like how nimble these cars are.
Man, i can't wait to pour some grease in this baby and see how it slides down the road. http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/images/smilies/cool.gif

I'm glad you picked them up. The 124s are great cars. Welcome to the world of 124

The plastic for the breather breaks from heat and age. As a temp fix you can use a 1/2" copper elbow. That will fit the rubber and the hose well enough to stop oil from spitting out. I think Phil has the correct part, wasn't very much.

You would have to do the reverse of this process (click link). I recommend strongly against doing so. You will need the single airbag control module as well as a different wiring harness. As far as the kids go, that's what back seats are for.

By the way - You totally scored!

Cool. Thanks. Great idea for starters. I'm enjoying driving this buggy around. Can't wait to get the other one and try to get it running. I'm going to tow it home this friday hopefully.

Thanks. I just saw this link and posted in your cheap w124 thread Forgot i mentioned it here. Congrats on your car too. Thanks for info. I'll be leaving that airbag alone. There's much better things to do with this car.

Now the question is, how does one drive a New beetle, w124 wagon, w124 sedan, izuzu pickup all at the same time? Hmm. The wife's jetta may have to go and she can use the beetle more. Or maybe i could start a car sharing business.

I'm very jealous, I paid $1,300 for a salvage (fixed for $500), but solid running '92. $1500 was a no brainer, I envy you sir!

Some pics of the new babies

Haven't gotten to try starting the 93 black interior one yet but i got it home. Here are some pics of it. The only thing i don't like about the body is the gray plastic trim on bottom 1/4 of car. Kind of ugly.

The engine is an oily mess. What is the best way to clean these? Degreaser and then a car wash?

The other one with gray interior and fading paint

One more pic of the back of good skinned one plus some pics of the one with peeling skin.Anyone done a DIY paint job on just the trunk, hood and roof? This looks like a good candidate for it. This car is beautiful inside and runs great. Still haven't checked the alda but having a good battery in it and now that its loosened up after sitting for a year has done it wonders. Seems to get pretty good mpg. Better than the 603 wagon.

Lower plastic body cladding can be painted

That '93 does not have a rear pump in the Tranny
(Only the front pump...Rear was eliminated sometime in '92)
'With out pulling the driveshaft I'd be leery of tow dolly-ing it.

I only have one rule about transporting MBs... Flatbed/RollBack.

How's that 300TE do towing? I'm seriously considering unloading my Dodge mini-van/tow vehicle, but I kinda don't want to so unless I can otherwise have some towing capacity. Currently the mini-van has a class III receiver, but I don't expect the 300TEto be able to do that. Class II should be enough. Isit working for you?

Acording to his sig that is a 87 300td not a 300te.
